What the scan reads on a Shopify store
The /products.json feed
Shopify exposes a public product feed at /products.json. The scan fetches and parses it: variants, options (color, size), prices. A valid feed passes the catalog feed check outright and feeds the variant and attribute checks.
Theme JSON-LD
Most themes emit Product/Offer JSON-LD, but coverage varies: price and currency are usually present, identifiers (GTIN, MPN), availability and variant-level offers often are not. The structured-data pillar checks each of these as a separate parseable fact.
robots.txt and WAF posture
The scan reads your robots.txt groups for the AI-agent crawler class and probes whether bots get the page humans get. Blanket-blocking agent crawlers caps the score — an agent that can't get in can't buy.
Transaction rails
The forward-looking pillar probes the emerging agent-commerce endpoints on your domain — UCP agent endpoint, A2A Agent Card, ARD AI Catalog — plus add-to-cart and checkout markers.

Does Shopify make my store agent-ready by default?
Partly readable, not buyable. The built-in /products.json feed and theme JSON-LD help an agent read your catalog, but readability is not buyability: identifiers, availability, policies and the transaction rails are on you. Scanned Shopify stores routinely score well on catalog checks and near zero on rails.
Do I need to install an app to be audited?
No. The scan is external and reads public pages only, on your request — nothing to install, no access to your admin, no real purchase ever made.
